The group has been participated in a number of Research Projects funded from various sources such as National and International authorities. Below there is a list of selected projects funded externally during the last 30 years :
NCM-GAMEP: On 2019 the AM&WFG has been granted the project to develop the Numerical Weather-Wave-Dust-Ocean and Tidal prediction system for Saudi Arabia. The project is in collaboration with Saudi Business Machines and LENOVO Supercomputers and developed for the National Center for Meteorology (former General Authority of Meteorology and Environment Protection- GAMEP) , Jeddah , Saudi Arabia . The project duration is 2019-2021.
RENEWABLE ENERGY: The AM&WFG provides wind, solar radiation and other meteorological forecasting parameters to support ADMIE, DEDDIE and a number of other wind and solar energy operators. Weather forecasting and historical data services are available four times a day for load forecasting in Greece. 2012-2022.
ENI: ENI is a High-resolution meteo-oceanographic data for various places on earth. It includes 18 limited area model configurations with the equivalent backup operations. The project is running in collaboration with University of Bologna and CMCC. The first period was 2017-2020 and the second 2020-2025. The funding agency is ENI SPa..
WASSF: The Weather-wave-dust and ocean circulation forecasting system for Saudi Arabia , Arabian and Red Seas - Fog and Flood Forecasting System has been developed for Saudi Aramco. It is in continuous development and operations since 2010. From 2005-2010 it was developed and operated as OMMS in cooperation with the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mines (KFUPM). WASSF is an advanced forecasting system covering all the needs for environmental applications and engineering operations for Saudi Aramco. It is known as WASSF-I , II , III for the operational periods of 2010-2015, 2015-2020 and 2020-2025). A Flash Flood and Early Warning section is included.
