Configuration

  • Horizontal Grid : Arakawa E-grid
  • Horizontal Resolution : 0.05 x 0.05 degrees
  • Vertical Grid : step-mountain Eta coordinate
  • No of vertical levels : 45 levels stretching from surface to 20 Km

Input Data

  • Atmospheric data : NCEP/GFS initial and lateral boundary conditions (0.5 x 0.5 degrees, 26 pressure levels)
  • Terrain and sea-surface data : Topography 30x30 sec, Vegetation 30x30 sec, Soil Texture 30x30 sec, daily NCEP SSTs 0.5x0.5 degrees.
  • Initialization : 12 UTC daily
  • Forecast Horizon : 5 days

Output Fields (Operational)

  • Mean Sea Level Pressure
  • Temperature fields at 2m, 850hPa, 700hPa, 500hPa
  • Wind speed and direction at 10m, 850hPa, 700hPa, 500hPa
  • Convective and accumulated Precipitation
  • Cloud Cover
  • Snowfall
  • Meteograms for several locations

    • Temperature fields from surface to top of the atmosphere every 50 hPa
    • Wind speed and direction from surface to top of the atmosphere every 50 hPa
    • Sensible Heat Flux
    • Latent Heat Flux
    • Relative and specific Humidity
    • Heating and cooling rate profiles
    • Incoming and outgoing shortwave and longwave radiation fields
    • Albedo
    • Surface Roughness Length
    • Surface Friction Velocity
